Days 23-25: Palmyra, NY

We stopped by the Whitmer Farm on the way to Palmyra.  Much of the translation of the Book of Mormon happened in this log cabin:

We did baptisms in the Palmyra Temple, only to find Robin Jacobson's family in the same session!  Laurel and Conan grew up in the same ward as the Jacobsons.  Small world!

Welcome to Palmyra!  We visited the Book of Mormon publication site, the Sacred Grove, Joseph's boyhood homes, and the Hill Cumorah.  We spent several days in Palmyra.

We stayed in the county fairgrounds' RV area.  The fair was still a few weeks away, so there were only a few RVs, and it was a beautiful, cheap place to stay!

We were walking through an old graveyard looking at old graves, and Camy shouted, "I found Alvin's grave!"  Yep, she sure did.  The death of Alvin had a significant impact on Joseph's thinking.

Moroni came here a few times:

Hmmm. Where are those plates?  Lots of hiding places Joseph used in the frame house that Alvin built.

The Sacred Grove was a fantastic Sunday activity.

In front of a witness tree:

The girls found lots of little frogs in the grove.  I'm sure Joseph played with them as well.
