Day 2: Visiting the Castle Rock

We arrived at our first destination: Castle Rock, Colorado!  And wow, it is a beautiful place.  It's green, it has mountains, and it has trees.  Utah has mountains and a few trees, but it's not so green by the time July comes around.  We stopped here to visit Laurel's brother (Jacob) and his family.

We started the day with a nice hike to the actual rock of Castle Rock.  It's a short hike around a small butte, with a small rock climb to the plateau at the end.  It offered a great view of the entire city.

After the hike, we took a dip in the neighborhood swimming pool.  Swimming is always the best thing we do for the kids.  We thought Camy looked pretty refined in this photo by the pool:

We finished the day with sparklers after dark.  Uncle Burt was pretty excited -- he'd never done sparklers before.
