It has quit raining inside the RV! The new tape we ordered (Eternabond) is holding, and it's amazing. I think they must use this stuff to seal cracks in dams and city water tanks. We're back in business. Even though stopping the rain inside has been a real struggle (and yes, the struggle is real), there is nothing like listening to the rain on a fiberglass roof. The slight and easy ping, ping, ping of rain on the RV roof should be bottled up in a sound machine.
We started the day at the Liberty Jail. It's always a somber and humbling experience to see where the leaders of the church were held through that cold winter long ago. It's the source of some of our most powerful revelations in the D&C.
The girls just before baptisms at the Kansas City temple:
After the jail and the temple, we drove up to Far West and Adam-Ondi-Ahman. The Saints were supposed to build a temple in Far West, and they laid the cornerstones. They never went further than the cornerstones because they were driven to Illinois.
I never realized how many communities the Saints had in the area. Far West was a bustling city, and dozens of cities were built in the surrounding counties.
Adam-Ondi-Ahman is such a beautiful, spiritual place. We had a great family discussion about the past and future of the place, and we sang "Adam-Ondi-Ahman" to the girls from the hymnbook.
Since it was late, and since we were the only ones in the area, we made a nice dinner and ate in the beautiful surroundings of the valley. We put the girls to bed and drove into the night towards St. Louis.
